MTN, A South African multinational mobile telecommunications company and also Africa’s best and top mobile telecommunications network had commenced scholarship programs for students of two various categories. Scholarships for blind students and scholarships for science and technology students.
These scholarship programs happen every year. The scholarship programs are annual awards designed to recognize and reward qualified high-achieving students in Nigerian public tertiary institutions.
So in this article, we will be looking into these two scholarship programs.
The MTN Foundation scholarship scheme seeks to attract high-performing full-time students studying in public tertiary institutions like universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education in Nigeria. The scholarship provides financial assistance to students who might otherwise be unable to pay for their tertiary education and aims to recognize and reward academic excellence.
Below is information on the two scholarship programs:
1. MTN Science and Technology Scholarship
This scholarship program is now in its 12th year and is open to eligible 300-level students pursuing science and technology-related courses at Nigerian public tertiary institutions like universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education. If they maintain the required grades, 300 successful students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 per year until graduation.

How to Apply for the MTN Science and Technology Scholarship
Please keep in mind that the MTN Scholarship 2022–2023 application requires you to complete both stages of the application.
The first step should be to obtain a user name and password.
- Starting from the Home Page Choose the “Create Account” option.
- Enter your name, email address, and password, then click the “Submit” button.
- Log in to the machine with the email address and password you created.
- When you’re finished with the first stage, you should definitely check out the next stage.
Please ensure that you correctly fill out all of the information on the MTN scholarship second stage.
- Starting from the home page, click the login button after entering your email address and password.
- After logging in, copy your page’s 12-digit PIN number and click the “Apply for Scholarship” button. To begin applying, enter your 12-digit PIN number and click the “Apply Now” button.
- Fill out the application form completely, and then click the “Submit” button.
- Print a copy of the completed form for verification purposes.
2. MTN Scholarship for Blind Students:
Application Closing Date: August 15, 2022/2023
The scholarship program is now In its tenth year, it is aimed at qualified 200-level blind students enrolled in any course at Nigerian public tertiary institutions (universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education). If they maintain the required grades, 60 successful blind students are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 per year until graduation.

Top 10 UTME Scholarship
This scholarship program began in 2020, is the most recent addition to the MTN Scholarships. Every year, the top ten UTME scorers, as announced by JAMB, automatically qualify for the top ten UTME scholarships. If they maintain the required grades, successful candidates are awarded scholarships worth N200,000.00 from their 100-level class through graduation.
The Top 10 UTME Scholarship is given regardless of the successful candidates’ preferred course of study or tertiary institution in Nigeria (public or private).
It is worth noting that the MTN Foundation has given over N3 billion in scholarships to 4,212 students since its inception. Following graduation, each scholar participates in the MTNF Skill Up Training to ensure that they are well prepared to compete and add value to Nigeria’s labor market.
They are also exposed to other training and certification opportunities, such as PMI (Project Management Institute). They are also provided with information about job opportunities and other career-related information as members of the alumni chat group.

Requirements for Overall MTN Foundation Undergraduate Scholarship Qualification
- Applicants from Nigerian public universities and colleges of education must be full-time undergraduates in their 300 level or third year.
- Applicants from public universities and colleges of education must have a 3.5 or higher cumulative grade point average (CGPA) (2:1).
- Applicants from public polytechnics must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the Ordinary National Diploma (OND) program and be admitted to the Higher National Diploma (HND) program.
- Direct entry-level students must have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 (upper credit) from the OND program and have been admitted to a public university’s 300-level third year.
Documents Required for the Application
They must bring two recent passport photos, as well as the original and a photocopy of the following documents:
- The current student ID card
- Any other form of identification (national identification card, international passport, or driver’s license)
- Admission letter from JAMB and the study institution
- Letter of acceptance for HND programs
