Hot Cake SGI Scholarships in Canada are several scholarship programs that we created to assist students who are studying buisness related fields at SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance)
SGI has worked with other universities and organizations to offer nine different scholarships with varying eligibility requirements in order to help students achieve their educational goals.
About SGI And Its Scholarships
SGI (also known as Saskatchewan Government Insurance) was founded in 1945 and has since evolved into two distinct operations. The Saskatchewan Auto Fund is the province’s mandatory auto insurance program, in charge of driver licensing and vehicle registration.
Scholarships are available for university students all over the world, it supports partial scholarships which cover some tuition fees and full scholarships which cover the duration of your studies. The majority of scholarships only cover tuition, leaving students to cover their own living expenses.
There are also numerous types of scholarships available for international students from specific regions or students studying in a specific field.
For instance, many students from developing countries, including parts of Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe, can apply for specific scholarships, as can many students from all over the world looking to study in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) related field
Application Procedure
SGI accept applications on May 1 (annually), and the application deadline is September 30 every year. Students must submit proof of fall semester enrollment with their application.
SGI does not guarantee employment for award candidates; however, upon completion of their studies, they may give recipients preferential candidates.

1. SGI Corporate Scholarship
Value: 7 annual scholarships of $2,500
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Have a permanent address in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Alberta, Manitoba, or Ontario.
- Enroll in a full-time undergraduate certificate program
- Not be a legal dependent of an SGI CANADA employee.
- Submit a transcript demonstrating at least a 70% average in the previous academic year.

All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria in a draw will be entered into a draw, and the 7 winners will be notified in early October.
2. SGI Anniversary Scholarship
Value: 4 annual scholarships of $2,500
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a certificate, diploma, or degree program at any accredited post-secondary campus.
- Be the child or legal dependent of an SGI CANADA, SGI, or Coachman employee.
- Make provision for proof of enrollment in the current academic year’s fall semester.
- Participate in community service, extracurricular activities, or commitments made to balance work, education, and family responsibilities.
- Have at least a 70% average in your last academic year.
Selection procedure.
All applicants who meet the eligibility criteria will be entered into a drawing, and the winners will be notified in early October.

3. SIIT (Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies) Scholarships
Annual Application Deadline: October 31
Value: 2 scholarships valued at $2,500
Eligibility Criteria
Students enrolled in the Management Studies Faculty in Accounting and Diploma in Management Studies are eligible
Candidates must:
- have a minimum average of 70%
- have 90% turnout
- have full-time enrollment and a full course load

Students should apply to SIIT directly. Students can obtain the application by downloading it from the SIIT website or picking it up at the Campus or program delivery sites.

4. Business Insurance Diploma Scholarship.
Value: 4 annual scholarships of $2,500
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Have a minimum 70% average in your first year of study.
- Be enrolled full-time in year 2 of the Business Insurance Diploma Program at the Palliser campus of Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
- Declare themselves as a diversity student at Saskatchewan Polytechnic in order to be considered for the designated diversity scholarship.
Criteria for selection
Academic achievement, as measured by the overall grade point average of all required classes for the Business Certificate (75% weighting).
Financial need (25 percent weighting).

Allow Saskatchewan Polytechnic to release your name and contact information to SGI.

Students must apply directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic and can do so by downloading an application from the Saskatchewan Polytechnic website or picking one up at the Moose Jaw Palliser Campus.

5. Risk Management and Insurance Scholarship
Value: 1 annual scholarship of $3,000
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be enrolled in the second, third, or fourth year of studies in Risk Management and Insurance (RMIN) or Risk Management and Insurance/Finance (RMIF) at the University of Calgary’s Haskayne School of Business.
- Be a Saskatchewan, Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, or Manitoba resident.
- Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.20.

All eligible students will be automatically considered by the faculty, and the scholarship will be awarded in April every year
6. SGI Graduate Research Grant
Value: $5,000 per academic year
Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must:
- Be admitted to the University of Regina as a fully qualified graduate student.
- Have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 80% is required.
- Propose research on engineering or human factors issues concerning traffic safety.
- Be enrolled full-time (minimum of 6 credit hours) in the semester in which the award is given.
Note: If you are a returning student, you must be in good standing and have demonstrated satisfactory achievement in course work as well as appropriate progress toward completing the research requirement.
Application procedure
The award application is available on the University of Regina’s website. Applicants should submit a research proposal as well as an outline of their relevant project experience.
Applications must also be accompanied by a confidential letter of reference from a member of the student’s supervising faculty.
Selection procedure
By November 30 every year, the Faculty of Graduate Studies and Research Scholarship Committee will review applications, select a recipient, and notify them.
